Plugins.

Every plugin in the line, what it does, what it runs in, and what it costs. They share one notation, so learning one is learning all of them.

  1. Strand's editor: a drum loop folded onto one bar under a clave gate pattern

    Strand

    Rhythmic gate

Type a rhythm. Hear it gate.

Strand is a rhythmic gate you program with one line of pattern notation. Euclidean rhythms, alternation, probability and subdivision are one symbol each, and the display draws the real gate envelope over your audio, so what you see is what the engine is doing. Mutate makes one musical change at a time and never goes silent; Evolve does it on the bar. MIDI in restarts the cycle, MIDI out drives a synth, and a gated low-pass and stereo offset finish the sound.

  2. Lattice, a pattern delay

    Lattice

    Pattern delay

Type a rhythm. Hear it echo.

Lattice is a multi-tap delay whose taps are a pattern. Write the rhythm of the echoes in the same notation as Strand, and each tap gets its own level, feedback, filter and pan. Alternation gives you echoes that change every bar; Euclid gives you polyrhythmic tails from a single symbol. The display shows every tap where it will land, with your audio underneath.

  3. Cadence, a pattern modulator

    Cadence

    Pattern modulator

Type a rhythm. Send it anywhere.

Cadence is a modulation source you write as a pattern. Each step has a value and a shape, the sequence is locked to the bar, and the output goes to any parameter in your host as MIDI CC or a plugin parameter. Alternation and probability make it drift on purpose; the display shows the curve the host is about to receive.

  4. Tick, a free pattern sequencer

    Tick

    Pattern sequencer

    Type a rhythm. Play it.

Tick is a MIDI sequencer you write as a pattern. Type the rhythm in the same notation as Strand, Lattice and Cadence, choose a note and a velocity, and it plays any instrument in your host, locked to the bar. Mutate and Evolve are in it too. It is the on-ramp to the language, and it is free.
